A Path for All

In May, A Path for All submitted a report "A society with unfulfilled potential" to the Reform Commission. The submission contains concrete recommendations for the Reform Commission's work, but it was is also a first step in a broader and long-term change effort to create pathways to jobs, education and communities for all young people. Here, the Academy must contribute with mobilization, innovation and drive. At the lab, we were to work with a central theme in the challenge: primary school and the fact that far too many children neither learn nor thrive during their school years. The purpose was to initiate development work on learning and primary school, which will play a role in the next phase of A Path for All.

The Purpose of Education by Valerie Hannon, author and independent education expert

With a background as a school teacher and advisor to the UK Department for Education, Valerie Hannon works to transform education systems around the world. She has published the book "Thrive - the purpose of schools in a changing world", founded the Innovation Unit and the Global Education Leaders Partnership and advises the OECD's Education 2030 project. Valerie Hannon presented her perspective on the purpose of education in the 21st century, inspiring us with examples of education system change globally and asking us questions about the purpose of education.

The next change agenda

What is the next agenda that we need to throw the Academy's collective power of action into? We explored this together with Aarhus Municipality, where Martin Østergaard, City Director, gave us insight into Aarhus' Wicked Problems. They presented their take on the most important challenges and invited us to join them in creating the solutions.
